Paris Drains Canal Saint-Martin
Work has just begun to drain and clean the Canal Saint-Martin, in the trendy 10th arrondissement in the north-east of the city. It's an area which has become a magnet for tourists from all over the world. The work though will turn the canal into a dry ditch for three months. Celia Blauel is a deputy mayor of Paris. She has responsibility for waterways and the environment, and told Mike Johnson what she expected to find once the canal was empty.
