Singing astronaut Chris Hadfield: I cherish Bowie's words
Chris Hadfield, the former commander of the International Space Station, who recorded a cover version of Space Oddity during his final mission, says he will now "cherish" David Bowie's comments about his performance "more than ever".
The full video was posted on YouTube shortly before Hadfield handed over command of the space station to Russia's Pavel Vinogradov in 2013.
Speaking to 5 live's Colin Paterson after Bowie’s death, Hadfield recalled: "When I did Space Oddity from the space station, we had to get his permission. He actually sent me a note when he heard the first vocal track, saying something like 'I love it spaceboy!'. You could see the smile on his face."
