Jaws shark filmmaker 'survived three shark bites'
Valerie Taylor and her late husband Ron were the Australian filmmakers who shot the underwater shark footage for the hit 1970s movie Jaws. Their ability to get up close and personal with sharks has meant that their work has been used in many of the documentaries and feature films about the creatures in the past forty years. But Jaws didn't quite have the effect on the shark's public image that they were hoping for. Now eighty years old, Valerie tells Matthew Bannister why they needed a mechanical shark alongside the live animal footage in Jaws.
