Sears backs reserve selection
Freddie Sears says Ipswich Town are disappointed to be out of the FA Cup, but believes manager Mick McCarthy was right to field an under-strength side.
Town lost 2-1 to Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Tuesday night, in their third-round replay.
The defeat was Ipswich's third in a row in an FA Cup tie against a side ranked below them, but Portsmouth's first in an FA Cup tie against a side at least two divisions above them since their 5-2 win against Birmingham City in the first round in January 1909.
