War Memorial

During a recent discussion about the importance of war memorials, we took a call from Paul Howgill from Rowley Fields.

He explained that his grandfather had been killed at the end of the First World War and he thought that his name might have been recorded on a memorial that used to belong in the now demolished St Augustine's Church on Fosse Road North.

Thanks to the amazing power of the radio, Chris Stevens from the At Risk War Memorials Project in Leicester happened to hear that call and contacted us to invite Paul to see if we could find his grandfather's name, listed amongst their collection.

So, the challenge was set. Paul and Jim met up in the city and he told us a little bit more about his grandfather.
