Sentry Duty
The meerkats of the Kalahari spend their nights underground and find all the food they need on the ground. But first they have to warm up in the early morning sun. Then it is time for a breakfast of insects which they mainly find underground. With their heads in the sand they can not always see predators approaching, so they will take turns standing on guard. To get a good view over the long grass, the sentries will climb as high as they can on whatever they can.
