Benn: Corbyn backs UK staying in EU
Shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn has insisted Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn fully supports the UK remaining in the European Union.
Mr Corbyn has voiced concerns about the proposed EU trade deal with the US, known as TTIP, saying it had been negotiated in "secret" and would "sign away" many public services.
Speaking to the Daily Politics, Mr Benn said: 鈥淛eremy has made it very clear on a number of occasions he backs Britain remaining in the European Union.
"This has been the settled view of the Labour Party and the trade union movement for a number of years now."
The government has promised to hold an in-out referendum on the UK's membership of the EU by the end of 2017, with speculation it could take place as early as this summer if a deal is agreed this month.
