Migrant crisis: Safe and legal route needed
The former foreign secretary has called on the European Union to establish an "organised and orderly" process for refugees and migrants arriving in Europe.
David Miliband, who heads the charity the International Rescue Committee, was speaking to Eddie Mair on Radio 4's PM programme as EU and Turkish leaders held talks in Brussels to try to agree an action plan on migrants.
He said that until "safe and legal" routes were established from the Middle East to Europe the EU would "always be playing catch up" with people smugglers.
