Ray Connolly on Sir George Martin
Record producer Sir George Martin, known as the "fifth Beatle", has died, aged 90.
Martin was "lovely to work with鈥 and 鈥渟o helpful he was like a teacher鈥 writer and documentary-maker Ray Connolly, who interviewed the Beatles multiple times, told the Today programme.
"He made the Beatles because he knew everything there was to know about classical music鈥nd [the Beatles] knew everything there was to know about rock and roll 鈥 put the two together, classical and rock and roll, and you get Eleanor Rigby."
