The Gambia Election
This will be the most closely contested election yet, with five parties and 130 candidates
With more parties than ever before – five in all – and 130 candidates, next week’s election promises to be the most closely contested one yet. Opposition parties are basing most of their attack on the misuse of public services, such as health, education and transport – but will this be enough for them to win one or more of the 36 seats? Presenter Barnaby Phillips reports from Banjul where the political atmosphere is intense, as the vast majority of Gambians prepare to make their vote.
