Regent Street, Chris Eubank & Leicester City History
Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.
12 years ago more than a million pounds was spent on pedestrianising a busy road in Hinckley.
Restricting cars on Regent Street was aimed at making it safer for shoppers and businesses, and a special ceremony was even held to unveil the 'revamp'. But more than a decade on, there's been a massive U-turn. Work is set to start on reopening the street to cars again, and a further 75-thousand pounds is going to be splashed out in the process.
We hear from, Martin O'Connor from the Environment and Transport department at Leicestershire County Council and 大象传媒 Radio Leicester's Tim Parker has been speaking shopkeepers on Regent Street to find out what they think to the change.
The former boxer Chris Eubank has told the 大象传媒 he told his son to avoid punching Nick Blackwell in the head in order to protect him during their British middleweight title fight on Saturday.
Blackwell remains in an induced coma after Eubank's son, Chris Eubank Junior, stopped him in the 10th round. Eubank Senior has been speaking to the 大象传媒's boxing correspondent Mike Costello. He says he was influenced by his own experience in the ring in 1991, when his opponent - Michael Watson - suffered severe brain injuries.
And a 42 year old record was finally broken last night (Tuesday 29th of March) when two Leicester City players started an England international match.
When Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy were named on the team sheet against the Netherlands, they broke a record stretching back to 1974 when Keith Weller, Peter Shilton and Frank Worthington all began a game for the Three Lions. Since then there's been the odd Foxes player to play for England, but never have two started since then.
Well, we spoke to Leicester City's club historian John Hutchinson to find out more.
