North Africa in prehistoric times was a vast diverse territory with sea coasts, mountains and tree-covered savannah. The Berber once dominated the region and their story is one of dispossession, assimilation, and survival.

"It's hard to say where the Berbers came from, but it's an artificial question - can you ask where the Chinese in China came from? It's a modern ideological debate between the French and the Arabs." Mohammed Shafiq, The Royal Moroccan Academy.
