EU Leaflets, Ambulance Service & The Big Switch

Martin Ballard sits in alongside Jim to start your day with the latest news and updates.

Keep an eye on your doormat. Next week you'll receive a leaflet setting out the Government's case for Britain remaining in the European Union, ahead of the referendum eleven weeks today. Downing Street says the move, which will cost more than 拢9 million, is in response to the public's demand for more information about the issue. But those who wants to leave say it's propaganda at the taxpayers' expense.

Also, the 大象传媒 has exclusively learnt that preliminary talks have taken place to merge East and West Midlands ambulance services. It comes as EMAS is facing a 12 million pound deficit this year, and has regularly failed to reach government response time targets. The new service would be the biggest of its kind in the world - serving 10 million people across over 11,000 square miles.

And, 6 out of 10 people say they still don't understand their energy bills, two years after changes were introduced to make them clearer. The changes, introduced in April 2014, were supposed to make it easier for us to see what we're paying for our gas and electric, and if we could be paying less. But more than half of people questioned said they couldn't remember seeing any information about cheaper deals. The energy regulator Ofgem says it's working with suppliers to test new formats for bills to make them easier for people to understand. Next Thursday, 大象传媒 Radio Leicester will host an event to try and help you better understand your energy bills.
