The Easter Rising: One hundred years on
During the Easter weekend one hundred years ago, armed insurgents in Ireland fought against British rule.
The insurrection in Dublin was brief but violent. Six years later, 26 Irish counties seceded from the United Kingdom, leading to the creation of an independent state.
As the centenary is commemorated, Mark Coles looks at how the occasion will be marked.
