Ireland in pictures - 100 years on from the Easter Rising
This weekend Ireland is marking the centenary of the Easter Rising, when a group of Irish nationalists took up weapons and seized government buildings and proclaimed a republic.
In his new book 'The Republic" the award-winning Irish war photographer Seamus Murphy has returned to his home country to capture in images the spirit of Irish life 100 years on from the Easter Rising. It was while trekking through regime-held areas of Syria in 2012 one night he decided it was time to return to Ireland and explore who the Irish are and what has become of the republic they created. The book begins with a quote from James Joyce's book Ulysses.
