An exploration of why The Caucasus are described as 'three inside three inside three'. Russia, Iran and Turkey are the outside powers which hold sway over the region, then there are the 3 independent countries of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Within these countries are 3 conflict zones which have produced breakaway territories.
