Better Medicines for Children

New medicines licensed in Europe will be examined for use in children as well as adults

Doctors often have to use adult drugs for children by reducing doses. This can lead to problems and adverse side effects because children's bodies handle medicines differently to adults.
New European legislation in force from this month means that each new medicine licensed in Europe must be closely examined for its potential use in children.
