Papua New Guinea to close detention centre
A controversial Australian detention centre for asylum seekers on Manus Island is to be closed, after Papua New Guinea's Supreme Court ruled it breached its constitution.
Under Australian law, anyone caught trying to reach the country by boat is sent for processing to camps on Manus Island or to the Pacific Island of Nauru.
But Australia says it won't accept the 850 asylum seekers currently detained on Manus Island.
The High Commissioner for Papua New Guinea, Winnie A Kiap, spoke to Ritula Shah on The World Tonight.
