Speech therapy - Jan and Anna
In 2005, after a stroke and her resulting aphasia, Anna lost much of her ability to communicate.
It affected her reading, writing and speaking.
At one stage she couldn’t spell her children’s names and was deeply affected by her loss of language.
Through the Stroke Association she met Jan, a volunteer, who became her conversation partner.
They talked together for a year.
Anna’s ability to communicate began to improve and Jan decided to train as a speech therapist.
This conversation was recorded 10 years after they first met.
