What鈥檚 the cost of fly tipping?
This week on-the-spot fines were introduced for fly-tipping offences across England, Wales and Scotland.
Figures show that the amount of public money spent on removing fly-tipped waste from public land has risen by 13 million pounds in two years, at a total of nearly 50 million pounds.
5 live鈥檚 Rowan Bridge joined Paul Cookson, a Waste Enforcement Officer at Preston City Council, on patrol.
Paul said residents who have recently moved out 鈥渄ump their household in the alleyway鈥.
Les, who lives on a street where rubbish has been left, said 鈥測ou start seeing rats. It鈥檚 very depressing. People can鈥檛 sell their properties鈥.
