GB Rowers' Road to Rio: Matt Gotrel & Jonny Walton
In our weekly profile of Great Britains Rowers ahead of their huge summer in Rio, we talk to Matt Gotrel and Jonny Walton about their tough training regime. Ady Williams compares his abilities on an ergo with those of GB's elite athletes.
"The training is done in the long miles. Rowing is unfortunate in that it's not a sprint, and it's not endurance."
"You have to prepare your body for both and get the speed work going into races."
"It's a leg dominated sport, you've got to have upper body strength and upper body strength."
"Our ergo times are classified, but roughly, sub 6 [minutes for 2k] is a minimum, and you go from there."
