The leaders of India and the US, the world's two biggest democracies, meet this week. India's prime minister is in Washington and business will be at the top of his agenda.
The leaders of the world's two biggest democracies are due to meet this Tuesday. India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is in Washington and business will be at the top of his agenda. Mr Modi is hoping to build bilateral trade from 120-billion dollars to 500-billion. We speak to Dr Milan Vaishnav, a senior associate in the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He says that this visit, Mr Modi's third in less than two years, is a win-win for both hosts and visitors.
The presidential election in Peru looks like being one of the closest ever. With 99% of the votes counted, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski - a 77-year-old former finance minister - had a tiny lead over Keiko Fujimori. The gap is currently around 100,000 votes - from around 22 million registered voters. The 大象传媒's Alex Ritson has been talking to Dr Alfredo Thorne - the man poised to be Peru's next finance minister if Pedro Pablo Kuczynski wins.
Staying in the US - and 7 June is nearly upon us. It has been clear for some time now that this long-awaited multi-primary extravaganza would be a milestone in the Democratic Party campaign - with Hillary Clinton expected to pass the threshold of delegates to secure a first-round nomination at the party's convention in Philadelphia in July. We hear from Steven Shepard of Politico.com who has been talking Democratic Party insiders from across the nation - he says their overwhelming message to Bernie Sanders is 'win California or get out of the race.'
The investment bank Goldman Sachs attracted more than a quarter of a million applications from students and graduates for jobs this summer. According to the Financial Times, the number of applications globally has risen more than 40% since 2012.
