Inside Niger's drone base
Landlocked Niger is sandwiched between Libya to the north, Mali to the west and Nigeria to the south and has become a key staging post for military operations targeting groups like so-called Islamic State and Boko Haram. Niger has joined forces with other countries in the region and it's also getting a helping hand from the west. The French are using Niger as a surveillance hub and Newsday's Julian Keane was given rare access to drone Base 101 in Niamey.
