鈥榃e assumed it was a bomb鈥�: England fans caught in Euro trouble in Marseille
England fans Phil Appleton and Andy McLaren were in the middle of violence which broke out last night in Marseille, on the eve of Euro 2016.
The pair, from Teesside, told 5 live Breakfast that a flare was thrown into the crowd which they 鈥榓ssumed was a bomb.鈥�
Tear gas was then also thrown.
鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 see. My eyes were watering, they were stinging. It鈥檚 ridiculous.鈥�
Euro 2016 kicks off today when France host Romania. England and Wales then play on Saturday against Russia and Slovakia respectively, before Northern Ireland face Poland on Sunday.
