'I was fighting two wars to survive'
David Render is one of the last surviving World War Two tank troop commanders to have taken part in the D-Day landings in the campaign to liberate Europe.
He told Victoria Derbyshire how he not only had to fight the Germans but gain the confidence of his own men.
His experiences have been documented in his book Tank Action: An Armoured Troop Commander's War 1944-45.
