Donald Trump flies into the UK later this week to open his revamped Turnberry golf resort in Scotland. It seems almost certain that he will be the Republican Party鈥檚 nominee for President of the United States.

He has broken the mould. Every Republican president since at least 1980 has been a devout Christian. Trump rarely if ever mentions God. You would not think that would be likely to play well with evangelical Christians, who for decades have voted solidly Republican. Can they be persuaded to vote for a thrice-married candidate whose relationship with God seems unclear?
