Leytonstone tube victim praises UK gun laws

The man who was stabbed in the neck at Leytonstone Tube station has said Britain's gun control laws prevented the attack being much worse.

Lyle Zimmerman, a science journalist with dual British American citizenship, said he had decided to speak publicly for the first time because of the Orlando shootings in the US.

Mr Zimmerman said he felt "preposterously lucky" to be alive because his attacker "just had a bread knife" and it showed that gun control "really does work... you have to go to extraordinary lengths to get firearms in this country".

The man who carried out the attack, Muhiddin Mire, was found guilty of attempted murder.
