The Rwandan refugee who became a landscape painter
Erick Karangwa was born in Rwanda but spent much of his childhood in refugee camps. He ended up in South Africa, working as a car guard in Cape Town. At night he would gaze into the gallery windows in upmarket neighbourhoods. Finally Erick made contact with a landscape painter called Andrew Cooper, who has become his mentor. Our reporter Mohammed Allie has been to meet them.
