How widespread is so-called 'sexual cleansing' in Malawi?
After stories circulated about an HIV-positive Malawian man, Eric, being paid to have sex with girls as young as twelve as part of a 'cleansing' ritual, he was arrested, on the President's orders.
Two women in Malawi - a women's rights advocate, Zilanie G Nyundo, and a journalist, Agnes Dumi Mizere, describe the custom as 'pernicious, vicious and ongoing' and discuss how the practice could be eradicated.
