The Headspace app: A business model for a mindfulness generation
Electronic devices are thought to contribute to the stress of modern life, and yet, some entrepreneurs have found a way to make smartphones into meditation tools. The Headspace app, described as a gym membership for the mind, is now used by six million people around the world. Its founder Andy Puddicombe is a former Buddist monk. Susannah Streeter first met him when he was a school boy. She caught up with him again recently and asked him to tell her more about why he launched the app.
