West Africa's regional - and entirely electronic - stock exchange
Int is often said that the path to prosperity in Africa lies in improving the trade between African countries and increasing economic integration. And in a way, the Bourse R茅gionale des Valeurs Mobili猫res (BRVM) is a symbol of that.
The BRVM is an electronic stock exchange that lists 40 companies across West Africa, including Senegal, Benin Burkina Faso and Niger. Its headquarters are in Ivory Coast and it recently doubled its turnover. It is also involved in talks with West Africa's other stock exchanges to create a common platform for share trading from Nigeria to Cape Verde.
The 大象传媒's Tamasin Ford sat down with the Bourse's chief executive, Edoh Kossi Amenounve, and asked him how economic growth in West Africa was helping boost the exchange's fortunes.
