A Leicester businessman is warning there's now a witch hunt against the Leicester East MP Keith Vaz. It comes after the high-profile Labour politician yesterday stood down as chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee following three days of allegations involving sex workers and drugs.

The University of Leicester's leadership team are recommending that the Vaughan Centre for Lifelong Learning be closed. It follows a bitter battle over the summer to save the centre which resulted in 3 thousand people signing a petition against the proposal.

The opening ceremony for the Paralympic Games takes place in Rio de Janeiro's iconic Maracana stadium this evening. It's the pre-cursor to 11 days of action across 23 different sports, and we have all the build up!
