Shearer on statue: 'it's a bit surreal'
A statue of Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has been unveiled outside St James' Park, to honour his career at the club.
The 10ft brass statue cost £250,000 and was funded by the family of ex-chairman Freddy Shepherd.
The former England captain told ´óÏó´«Ã½ 5 live's Adrian Chiles, that it was a "surreal" moment for him.
"I'm very proud and I'm very honoured. I never ever did I feel, when I left home at 15, that I would be here talking about a statue of myself".
