Rooney absence had no influence on Man Utd win v Leicester – Mourinho
Jose Mourinho says Wayne Rooney’s absence had no bearing on the performance of the side in their 4-1 win over Leicester City.
Rooney was left on the bench against the Premier League champions as United scored four first half goals at Old Trafford.
“Today we didn’t win because Wayne Rooney didn’t play, today we won the game because the team played really well,” Mourinho said.
“If Wayne Rooney had been in the team today he would play a good performance and win the game as other ones did.
“That’s England. You love this way and then you complain you don’t win Euros and don’t win the World Cup but it’s your country,” he added.
