Proposals to redevelop one of Rutland's historic markets have prompted a row in the town of Uppingham. The scheme would see the market place resurfaced, and a new seating area created for nearby cafes and food stalls. The plans come from a group known as Uppingham First.
It's estimated thirty thousand people crowded on to Belgrave Road, for last night's Diwali light switch-on. Organisers of this year's Diwali celebrations in Leicester have hailed the event a great success, after calls last year for more innovation to attract younger people and larger crowds.
Leicestershire Police's Assistant Chief Constable Phil Kay, has suggested in a interview with the Loughborough Echo, that the Police shouldn't investigate burglaries where doors and windows have been left open. But should that be the case?
