The red cabbage that weighs as much as a seven-year-old

A farmer from Cornwall has broken the world record for the heaviest red cabbage at the Malvern Autumn Show. The cabbage in question weighs in at a massive 23 kg, the same as a seven-year-old child.

David Thomas has been growing massive vegetables for 16 years and says as well as the right seeds you also need to give them 鈥渓ots of love and care.鈥

While growing his record breaking cabbage David told 5 live Drive he checked it twice a day: 鈥淥nce before I go to work and once when I come home.鈥

Four world records were broken at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championships this year. The longest carrot was more than six metres, the longest beetroot almost eight metres and the longest radish measured five metres.
