The United Nations Security Council is holding an urgent meeting on the worsening violence in Syria. The US is blaming the Russians. Britain's ambassador, Matthew Rycroft says the joint peace effort by the US and Russia "is very, very near the end of its life". The UN says the Syrian government offensive against Aleppo had unleashed new horrors.
