Why do the English not build their own homes?
Councils in England will be obliged to make sure plots of land are available to anyone wanting to self-build or custom-build their own home, and supporters reckon it will help increase the supply of affordable homes.
Daily Politics reporter Mark Lobel went to the Netherlands to see how a similar policy works there, and why England lags behind when it comes to self-build projects.
