Billy Joe Saunders: Fury 'could sink to dark place' if licence taken
Tyson Fury has vacated his WBO and WBA World heavyweight titles, to focus on "medical treatment and recovery". Fury has admitted to taking cocaine to deal with depression - and he could still lose his boxing licence.
Middleweight World Champion Billy Joe Saunders, a good friend of Fury鈥檚 said: 鈥淗e was incredibly down a month ago. He's slowly getting better in this last week and I'm happy I can say that.鈥
Fury withdrew from his latest rematch with Ukraine's Klitschko, scheduled for 29 October, because of mental health issues, he later admitted that he was taking cocaine to help deal with depression. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) met on Wednesday and a decision on removing his licence is due on Thursday.
鈥淚 hope board of control don't put another dagger in now by taking his license 鈥 I fear if that goes he鈥檒l sink into a dark place,鈥 added the boxer.
