Earl Cameron talks about his long career and Andrea Arnold reveals how she found the star of her new film

The US film director Ron Howard brings British film star Felicity Jones along to talk about closing down the streets of Florence and setting cameras on drones to chase Jones and her co-star Tom Hanks down streets for his latest film Inferno, the last of the trilogy based on Dan Brown’s books.

L.C. Cooke, the brother of the late gospel singer and composer Sam Cooke, remembers the importance to the America Civil Rights movement of his brother’s 1964 hit A Change is Gonna Come. And, Norse gods may have been part of ancient history at school, but historian Eleanor Rosamund Barraclough paints a very different and far more exotic picture of one particular nymphomaniac creature.

From Nigeria, we hear about the new film by Izu Ojukwu – ’76 which takes us back to the failed coup of that year following which General Murtala Mohammed was killed. Executive producer Tonye Princewill tells us about the difficulties of getting the 70’s look just right.

Thomas Owoo the poet rapper just happens to be a sociology teacher. He gives us an example of how he uses his poetic rhythms to keep his students engaged and inspired. Casting for films is never particularly easy but the British film maker Andrea Arnold explains that when one of her leads dropped out of filming, she resorted to walking a beach in Florida, to find another. We hear from 99 year-old Earl Cameron a key figure in British black cinema history. He starred in Pool of London, the first time a black actor featured in a leading role.
