"Immense pressure" Howard Webb on refereeing Brazil
Howard Webb gives us an insight into the pressure faced by elite referees.
Webb, a former World Cup final official, recalls a decision that he made in a 2014 World Cup knock-out game between Brazil and Chile that could have had major consequences for the hosts, Brazil.
The context of such moments is something that is not lost on professional referees. Webb said: "The pressure of any official taking charge of Brazil in that World Cup was huge. Heaven forbid anyone making a mistake that would knock them out."
Webb, now a pundit on television, highlights the role of his fellow officials in making tough calls and goes through the decision making process in a high-octane environment.
