Malta plane was ‘down before anyone knew it’
A passenger on a different plane who witnessed a plane crash at Malta Airport described observing “a massive burst of flames”.
Five people died after the twin-prop Metroliner crashed at 5:30 BST after taking off from Luqa airport on a flight to Libya.
Edward De Gaetano caught the incident on camera and told 5 live that the “surrounding area was engulfed in smoke and fire”.
“There was panic, because no one knew what was going on and we were close to the incident,” he added.
