The liver transplant that turned to marriage
"There was just an immediate connection with him", says Heather Kruger who married the stranger whose liver saved her life.
Heather Krueger had stage four liver disease, and had already been ill for about two years when doctors told her she only had a 50% chance of surviving another two months without a transplant.
Former Marine Christopher Dempsey heard about Heather's plight when he overheard a co-worker talking about Heather's need for a liver transplant.
The 38-year-old decided to get himself tested and discovered he was a match for the then Miss Krueger.
Speaking to 5 live's Charissa Chadderton, Heather said the pair fell in love during the transplant process and described their wedding as a "celebration of life."
