Flood Prevention Plans for Berkshire
Environmental MP Neil Parish & Newbury's Richard Benyon discuss what needs to happen.
Neil Parish MP:
"I think some areas do need big schemes, and other areas you can use this local catchment area and hold the water back...if we went to the Netherlands they would spend the money to protect themselves."
Richard Benyon MP:
"I think the last really big floods in our area...was 2007, so I think it's about the time for a major look."
"Having a review is fine and I think there's some really good stuff in this report."
"Whenever there's floods, the most depressing thing is some politicians and some media commentators immediately say that it's because of dredging - often it's the case that this would make things worse."
