Chief Inspector sings to build bridges with young ethnic women

A senior Muslim police officer is trying to improve trust between the London Metropolitan police and young women from minority communities. Latest figures from the Home Office show that people from BME backgrounds are three times more likely to be stopped and searched than their white counterparts. It's one of the reasons DCI Shabnam Choudhari hosted an event in London to challenge perceptions that youngsters, especially females, have of the police force. She is hoping it may encourage more of them to consider a career in policing. Asian Network's Shabnam Mahmood was at the event.
