Syria's soul food - the magic of makdous
It's a delicious mix of aubergine, walnuts and chillies, and an essential part of a Syrian breakfast. At this time of year, Syrian women would usually be surveying rows of newly bottled makdous, having spent days boiling and stuffing kilos of aubergines. Alma Hassoun of 大象传媒 Monitoring explains how war has affected this tradition.
