Sleaford Mods, Lambchop & Margaret Glaspy

Lauren is joined for live music and chat from Nashville alt-country hero, Lambchop, Nottingham punk-poets, Sleaford Mods, and Californian singer-songwriter, Margaret Glaspy.

Lambchop's Kurt Wagner joined Lauren for solo renditions of tracks from his spellbinding new album, FLOTUS. He described how the hip-hop he overheard in his Nashville neighbourhood came to influence his own writing process, and discovered in Lauren a fellow fan of a certain soap opera set in his hometown. Nottingham's inimitable Sleaford Mods graced the Live Room with two tracks from their most recent EP, TCR – on Jason's birthday, no less. In between helpings of cake, the pair talked about the everyday inspiration that keeps them prolific, and what it feels like to be Iggy Pop's favourite band. In the final session of the week, Margaret Glaspy dropped in to play songs from her debut album, Emotions and Math. The Californian singer-songwriter traced her musical trajectory right back to a childhood spent as a competitive fiddle-player, and described the slow beginnings and rapid completion of her record.
