Mum of stab victim: Knife Angel should 'empower people to de-tool'
A mother, whose son was stabbed to death in January 2016 by a 16-year-old, said she hopes a sculpture entitled 'Knife Angel' will give people an 'empowered choice to de-tool'.
Thomas, who was stabbed in Derby city centre on 19th January and was pronounced dead 50 minutes later, was described by jurors as "entirely innocent".
The 'Knife Angel' sculpture was created by artist Alfie Bradley, and is comprised of around 100,000 weapons either confiscated by or handed to police. Thomas's mother, Rachel, said of the piece: "When you look at it, it tells a very emotive story with a really clear message and some people say they don't like it, they don鈥檛 like it makes them feel uncomfortable. I don't like the fact my son was stabbed".
