Fuel 'beyond reach' of many Zambians

In Zambia, fuel subsidies have been cut and the cost of transport has risen by 25%. The move is part of the government's attempts to reduce its ballooning budget deficit and, it is also believed, part of the groundwork necessary to qualify for a bailout loan from the International Monetary Fund.

But rising fuel prices are making life increasingly difficult for Zambians and the small businesses that many of them run.
