Record-breaking pumpkin enters boat race
An Essex gardener has set sail in a record-breaking pumpkin to celebrate the giant gourd being crowned the heaviest ever grown in the UK.
The 95 stone (605kg) pumpkin was grown by Hyde Hall horticulturist Matthew Oliver from a seed bought an auction for 拢1,250 by Ipswich-based seed merchants Thompson & Morgan.
Today he joined three other not-quite-so-large gourds in the "world's first pumpkin boat race".
